Meet the Maker
A bit of my story
Moon Tea Talismans was founded in 2015. Working from a home studio located in the Antelope Valley / California. It all began with wire wrapping and my love for precious gemstones. All my life I could recall working with my hands and feeling this immense need for a creative outlet. Whether that was making bracelets as a kid, nail art, painting.. you name it. Never would I have imagined any of that leading to making jewelry, but nothing else has felt this right! Fast forward to now, not only am I a self taught metal smith but I also wear the many hats that come along with running a business.
The work
I strongly believe in making quality, handmade products. Every piece I make is a product of years of dedication. I am constantly striving to make every piece better than the one before. I mainly work with recycled sterling and fine silver and do my best to contribute as little waste as I can. Being as our natural world is a big inspiration to me, I find it important to lesson my impact as much as possible. I’m always learning and always a work in progress, whether that’s in regards to new metal smithing techniques or new ways to lessen my foot print.
Thank you, Mother Nature! Always!
Inspired is my favorite state to be in, but I have learned over the years that inspiration is fleeting. At times when the drive simply isn't there you just have to do! Inspiration then began to come from the work its self. The more involved I was, the deeper the understanding grew, the easier it became for my mind to make connections and for my hands to execute. It’s such a beautiful exchange of energy. Some of my best ideas have come from spotting raw material messily out of place while I work on something else.
When it comes down to it I think my biggest inspiration/motivation is the act of transforming. And the transformation does not start with me and it will not end with me, I'm just happy to be a part of the process. I can only hope that the love that I feel from our earths creations transcends through the love of my craft.
